When six years old I wanted to be a cook, Dali wrote. Sixty-eight years old his ambition was fullfilled in the shape of a book: Les dîners de Gala, originally published in 1973 in the French language, consists of twelve chapters to which Dali gave the following titles:

12 “Hors-Texte” specially designed and signed by the artist. 56 recipes illustrated in color, 21 of which were prepared by the leaders of French gastronomy: Lasserre, La Tour d’Argent, Maxim’s and Le Buffet de la Gare de Lyon.
